Jenson Button has revealed he received an offer during the 2011 season to move to Ferrari before he renewed his contract with McLaren!
A Brazilian news agency has revealed that he held some conversations during the preceding year with Ferrari while an announcement was made by McLaren regarding Button’s multiyear contract with them.
Button commented on the Ferrari offer saying “I was happy to know that my work was respected. I had a listen to what some of the other teams could offer me”
He was also quoted in the Daily Mail as saying “If Lewis (Hamilton) wasn’t in Formula 1, I personally feel it would be exciting having Fernando as a teammate”. He also added that it would be quite thrilling to work with the Spaniard saying “he’d (Alonso) be exciting to work with, to work with and to be an enemy, which I’m sure he would be”

So should this news have current number 2 driver Felipe Massa worried?
Ferrari’s win at Sepang from Alonso was paired with another terrible race from Massa. Standing behind his driver Stefano Domenicali, Ferrari Team Principal said that they are ready to support Massa in every area which he needs to improve.
It is quite obvious that now the 2012 season is underway a shake-up of the drivers is not off the cards, but it is unlikely. I guess we will have to see how Massa does in China before re-visiting this discussion!
